From Our Director…
One of the first memories I have of gifting something, was at Easter. As a child I lived with my family in a row of terrace houses. We had the classic back gardens – one joined to another, where you could talk to (or shout at) your neighbours over the short fences. I could see the field of my primary school from my back garden – as a 6 year old, I thought that was so cool! At the back of our garden was a very beautiful and well kept cottage ðŸ¡. In this cottage lived a wonderful woman, always smiling and making conversation when we were out playing. She was an elderly lady, but her energy was amazing! 🌟
I remember one Easter, she came to our house with bags in her hands. She took out a variety of Easter eggs from these bags, and I remember her handing me one – I was so made up! Every year for a number of years we exchanged Easter eggs ðŸŽ. My mum would have a lovely one arranged for her, and she would come and drop off ours. I enjoyed giving hers, it made her so happy, and even more joyful than she already was. Her bright blue eyes would light up as she handed me mine, and she always had something pleasant to say ðŸ˜.
Some years ago, a long time from my childhood days and moving from the area, I visited this lady. She must have been in her 90’s by then. She had the same bright blue eyes and perfect smile – and she remembered me! She probably never knew what impact she had on me, and the way I felt about giving because of her simple but powerful act every Easter ðŸ£.
For me, Easter became a time to give. At school I started gifting Easter eggs, and even today I enjoy gifting around the workplace, to neighbours, and sometimes people that least expect it! It gives me a sense of joy, expressed simply in this quote by Ben Carson; “Happiness doesn’t result from what we get, but what we give”. I suppose this is the reason as to why Elite Hampers came about ðŸ’.
The act of giving can be very powerful. This simple action can leave a profound impact on anyone.
When I create hampers, it makes me feel so good! I want the recipient of our hampers to feel the way I do when I give.
